Tour of Brown's Ferry
I thought I would post this view of a BWR. They don't say which of the Brown's Ferry reactors this is, but they are all GE BWR units, very similar to Vermont Yankee.
That is why they made them fuel pool fire hoses special secret security information...there is the assumption there is going to be a lot of radiation in the area and who's got the balls to manually operate those valves when the rods are half covered....
Why not manually remote operated valves at the bottom of the outside of the reactor building
